lyrics

No One’s Home Tonight

there’s trouble in the streets we’re living in
the ties that bind us fray down and wear thin
restless voices guilty without being tried
of wanting to be looked upon and recognized

and history is full of simple narratives
handed down from those lucky enough to live
but who did they leave lying in the street to die
what narrative would they shout out if you walked by

and yes
there’s bridges falling down
and yes
there’s homes being shuttered now
and yes
we cannot hear the sound
of the people we stand on top of to be seen in the crowd

but that's not why we're paranoid
that's not why we're scared of noise
everyone is out patrolling for some kind of fight
& that's why no one's home tonight

no one’s home to keep the lights on
keep the fire burning bright and warm
no one’s welcoming the strangers
that wander in from the horizon

no one’s home to be right there
no one’s home to be right there
no one’s listening to dissonance
no one’s home to be right there

and yes
there’s bridges falling down
and yes
there’s homes being shuttered now
and yes
we cannot hear the sound
hear the sound
hear the sound
